Alanis Nadine Morissette (born June 1, 1974)
Her debut album, Jagged Little Pill, (1995) sold 30 million copies. Three more studio albums followed: Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998), Under Rug Swept (2002), and So-Called Chaos (2004).
She won her first Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent to Grammys) when she was 10.
Alanis's U.S. debut album Jagged Little Pill was released in early 1995 on Madonna's Maverick Records. And it did sell over 30 million copies worldwide, making hers one of the most successful debut albums ever released.
Alanis wrote all of the lyrics for this record when she was 19 years-old, and enlisted the help of veteran musical collaborator Glen Ballard, most famous previously for his work with Wilson Phillips, to pen the music.
The co-coperation continued on "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie", but on the following albums Alanis wrote both the lyrics and the music by herself.
Alanis also done some acting, most notably the part of God in Kevin Smith's "Dogma" in 1999. She also appeared in a few theather plays,
